Software Artist
Role
Ralf S. Engelschall is a
Software Artist (also known as
Hacker, with the original meaning of the word), world-wide accredited through his many Open Source
Software (OSS) achievements. He has over 15 years of experience in this
artistic role.
Discipline
Software Art is the discipline of scientific and artistic
adoption of all essential and even multidisciplinary theories,
concepts, methods, practices and technologies to achieve demonstrably
sophisticated, elaborated and reusable software solutions. An important
key aspect of this discipline is the steady evaluation of possibilities
and the examination to exhaust technological feasibilities with the
resulting solutions — also known as the true software "hacking". The
results are usually Open Source Software (OSS) solutions made freely
available to anyone.
